Y-type filter is an indispensable filtering device in the pipeline system for conveying media. It's usually installed at the inlet end of pressure reducing valve, pressure relief valve, water level valve or other equipment to remove impurities in the medium to protect the normal use of valves and equipment.
1. Working Principle
A small device used to remove solids from liquids. Its main function is to protect the normal operation of compressors, pumps and other equipment and instruments, so as to stabilize the process and ensure safety. The filter intercepts impurities in the medium through the filter screen, allowing the clean fluid to pass through the filter screen into the connecting valve and pipeline, while the debris remains in the filter barrel.

I. Difference Steps for cleaning Y filter
(1) Close the valve: Before cleaning, first close the inlet and outlet valves connected to the Y-type filter to stop the flow of fluid and ensure safety.
(2) Disassemble the filter: Depending on the specific model and design, the Y-type filter can be disassembled using bolts or other connectors.
(3) Remove residue: After removing the filter basket, rinse the filter basket and internal channels with clean water or an appropriate solution to remove residual particles and dirt. A soft brush or compressed air can be used to assist in cleaning.
(4) Check and replace the filter screen: Check whether the filter screen in the filter basket is damaged or blocked. If damaged or blocked, replace it with a new filter screen in time. Ensure that the quality and accuracy of the filter screen meet the requirements.
(5) Reassemble: After cleaning the filter basket and replacing the filter screen, return the filter basket to the Y-type filter position and ensure that it is installed correctly. Reinstall any seals and connectors to ensure that they are firmly tightened.

II. Disassembling Y-Type Filter: Key Precautions
(1) Turn off the fluid source
Before starting the disassembly and maintenance, you must firstly turn off the liquid or gas fluid source supplying the Y type strainer to prevent fluid leakage or splashing.
(2) Releasw the pressure
If there is pressure inside the Y strainer, you should release the pressure to avoid accidents. It can be achieved by opening the exhaust valve or screw to release the air.
(3) Wear labor protection equipment
Operators should wear labor protection equipment, such as protective gloves, glasses or masks, ensing personal safety.
(4) Confirm that system pressure drops to zero
During operation or maintenance, please not that gauge pressure drops to zero and the product temperature drops to room temperature before procedding, otherwise it's easy to casue personal injury.
(5) Confirm the medium in the pipeline has been blocked
(6) Use the correct tools
Using the corresponding tools such as wrenches or screwdrivers to remove the upper and lower covers of the Y filter, sometimes may requre additional scres or butterfly bolts to disassemble.
(7) Check the filter mesh and sealing gasket
If the filter mesh is damaged or blocked, it needs to be cleaned or replaced. Check the upper and lower covers and the sealing gaskets at the connection parts.
(8) Avoid damage to surrounding pipes and equipment
