Starting from March 14th, China will implement a visa-free policy for ordinary passport holders from six countries: Switzerland, Ireland, Hungary, Austria, Belgium, and Luxembourg. This expansion of the visa-free "circle of friends" comes after the visa exemption agreement between China and Thailand took effect on March 1st.
According to the arrangement, from March 14th to November 30th, 2024, ordinary passport holders from Switzerland and the other five countries mentioned can enter China for business, tourism, visiting relatives, or transit purposes for up to 15 days without a visa. Those who do not meet the visa-free requirements still need to obtain a visa before entering China.
As of early March, China has signed visa exemption agreements with 157 countries, covering different types of passports, and has reached agreements or arrangements to simplify visa procedures with 44 countries. Including Singapore, Antigua and Barbuda, and Thailand, which have signed visa exemption agreements with China this year, a total of 23 countries have achieved comprehensive visa exemption arrangements with China. In addition, more than 60 countries and regions grant visa-free or visa-on-arrival treatment to Chinese citizens.
