The Marking Requirements of Pipe Fittings

Pipe fitting identification is a critical practice utilized to ensure pipeline safety, standardize management, and establish after-sales traceability. The specifications for pipe fitting identification are as follows:

Permanent identification

It is essential that the marking method used for pipe fittings is permanent, resistant to stress, and does not fade or peel over time. Durable methods like laser corrosion marks or dot matrix low-stress steel marks are recommended. Permanent identification is mandatory unless specifically requested by the client.

• Standard font

The content of the sign must be clear and legible.

The identification should include essential information such as the name, nominal size, wall thickness, material, standard, heat number, and more.

For example: Logo+ 90EL+ DN50+ SCH40S+ A403-304L+ ASME B16.9+ Heat No. 12345678

If space constraints prevent the inclusion of all details, prior agreement with the customer is necessary. While some details like manufacturing standards or pipe fitting codes may be omitted, the material and furnace number must always be included.

 Color Contrast

To facilitate quick identification, the color of the sign should contrast with the surface color of the pipe fitting.

• Qualified certificate

It is significant to confirm with clients whether the TS number or certificate number needs to be marked on the pipe fitting.

Overall, adherence to these professional pipe fitting identification practices ensures safety, clarity, and traceability in pipeline management.
