(1) Rough grinding: Use coarse sandpaper or grinding wheel to perform preliminary grinding on the surface of the stainless steel pipe elbow to remove larger scratches and uneven parts.
(2) Medium grinding: Use medium-grained sandpaper or grinding wheel for further grinding to the surface smoother.
(3) Find grinding: Use fine sandpaper or polishing wheel for fine grinding to achieve a higher surface finish.
(4) Polishing: Usd polishing paste and wheel for polishing to achieve a mirror effect on the surface.
2. Chemical polishing
(1) Chemical solution treatment: Soak the stainless steel butt weld elbow in a specific chemicao solution, such as a mixture of nitric acid and hydrofluoric acid, to remove the oxide scale and impurities on the surface through chemical reaction, making the surface smooth and bright.
(2) Neutralization treatment: Rinse with clean water after polishing, and then treat with neutralizing solution to remove residual chemicals.
The typical ratio of the nitric acid and hydrofluoric acid mixture is:
-Nitric acid: 65% - 70% nitric acid, 1 part by volume
-Hydrofluoric acid: 40% - 45% hydrofluoric acid, 1 part by volume
-Water: deionized water or distilled water, 2 parts by volume
3. Electrolytic polishing
(1)Electrolytic treatment: The stainless steel weld elbow is used as an anode and placed in an electrolyte. The raised parts on the surface are dissolved by electrolysis, making the surface smoother and brighter.
(2)Post-treatment: After electrolytic polishing, rinse with clean water and then passivate to form a dense oxide film to enhance corrosion resistance.
II. Instruments
1. Mechanical polishing:
(1) Sandpaper of different grits: used for coarse grinding, medium grinding and fine grinding.
(2) Grinding wheel: used for preliminary grinding and removal of large scratches.
(3) Polishing wheel: used for fine grinding and polishing to achieve a mirror surface.
(4) Poishing paste: Increase the polishing effect while using polishing wheel.
2. Chemical polishing:
(1) Chemical solution: such as a mixture of nitric acid and hydrofluoric acid, used to remove surface oxide scale and impurities.
(2) Neutralizing solution: used for neutralization treatment to remove residual chemicals.
3.Electrolytic polishing:
(1) Electrolytic tank: used to place electrolyte and stainless steel elbow.
(2) Power supply: provides the current required for electrolysis.
(3) Electrolyte: used for electrolytic polishing to make the surface smooth and bright.
III. Inspection Methods
(1) Visual inspection:
Observe the appearance of the stainless steel elbow pipe fittings with the naked eye to check for obvious surface defects, corrosion, fractures, and other issues.
(2)Dimension measurement:
Use professional measuring tools, such as calipers and micrometers, to measure the outer diameter, inner diameter, bend angle, wall thickness, and other dimensions of the buttweld elbow to ensure they meet the design requirements.
(3) Magnetic particle inspection:
Sprinkle magnetic particles on the surface of the welding elbow and use a magnetic field to observe whether the particles aggregate, indicating the presence of cracks or defects.
(4) Ultrasonic inspection:
Place the ultrasonic sensor in contact with the stainless steel elbow and use the propagation characteristics of ultrasonic waves to scan the elbow, detecting internal defects, cracks, and other issues.
(5) Water pressure test:
Assemble the stainless steel elbow into the corresponding pipeline system and apply water pressure to test for leaks, deformation, and other problems.
